Obituary of Edmund F. McCabe
Edmund F. McCabe, 89, of Jackson Township died Friday, July 26, 2013 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Mr. McCabe was born in Brooklyn, N.Y.
He served in the 48th Armored Infantry during World War II and was awarded the Purple Heart Award for wounds received in action in 1945.
Mr. McCabe was a security officer for White Consolidated Industries, Edison where he was employed for 30 years before his retirement.
He attended the United Presbyterian Church of Millstone. He was an avid reader and enjoyed playing craps at the casinos, fishing with his wife, and spending time with children.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Marion McCabe; a son, Michael McCabe; his parents, Felix and Julia Doherty McCabe, and his sister, Mary.
He is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth Palmer McCabe; a son and daughter-in-law, Edmund, Jr. and Kim McCabe; a daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Lenny Monticello; a daughter-in-law, Lynn McCabe; three grandchildren, Tara Monticello, Brad McCabe and Gabrielle McCabe; a great grandson, Aiden McCabe; two sisters-in-law Emma Palmer and Lorraine Palmer; two brothers-in-law, Richard Palmer and George Gilbert; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The viewing will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Tuesday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the United Presbyterian Church of Millstone on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. followed by interment at the church cemetery.
