Obituary of Doris Matthews Clayton
Doris Matthews Clayton, 96, of Freehold Township died Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at Monmouth Crossing, Freehold Township. Mrs. Clayton was born in Freehold and was a lifelong resident of the area.
She was a graduate of Freehold High School, Class of 1934 and graduated from Rider College.
Mrs. Clayton was a legal secretary for Samuel Sagotsky, Attorney at Law, Freehold.
Mrs. Clayton was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Freehold where she was an elder, deacon, Sunday School teacher, and member of the church's Unity Club.
She was a volunteer at CentraState Medical Center, a member of Monmouth Grange No. 92, and former Cub Scout Den Mother for Pack No. 155, Freehold Township.

She was predeceased by her husband, Russell D. Clayton and a brother, Everett Matthews, Jr.
Surviving are two sons, R. David Clayton and his wife Meredith, Milford, Delaware and Ross H. Clayton and his wife Debra, Freehold Township; a brother, Jay D. Matthews; and grandchildren, Rachel Runge, Russell D. Clayton, III, Kimberly Clayton and Jennifer Clayton; three great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Saturday, August 10, 2013 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Memorial services will be held at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. William L. Frederickson officiating. A committal service will follow at Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold. In lieu of flowers memorial donations to the Alzheimer's Association would be appreciated.
