Obituary of Joseph J. Cicero

Joseph J. Cicero, 81, of the Bayville section of Berkeley Township, passed away on Monday, December 23, 2013 at Tallwoods Care Center, Bayville. Born in Staten Island, New York, he lived in Howell Township and Manchester Township prior to moving to Bayville three years ago. Mr. Cicero was a police officer for the New York Department of Sanitation, retiring 40 years ago. He also owned a farm in Howell Township raising horses, pigs, chickens and other farm animals. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 129, Brick, and a member of the Elks. He was predeceased by his brother, Fiorello, and his sisters, Katie, Millie and Lucy. He is survived by his three sons, Dr. Gerard Cicero and his wife, Cathy, Chicago, Illinois, Steven Cicero and his wife, Kim, Howell Township, and Joseph Cicero and his wife, Nancy, Freehold, a daughter, Joanne Roth and her husband, Mitch, Freehold; his former wife, Mildred Beneducci Cicero; his siblings, Sebastian, Richard, Caroline, Gloria, and Ronnie; and his grandchildren, Maris, Augie, Robbie, Leeza, Micheal, Brandon, Jenna, and Zach. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday, January 3, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Rose of Lima R.C. Church, Freehold. Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Monmouth County S.P.C.A., 260 Wall Street, Eatontown, NJ 07724 would be appreciated.
