Obituary of Christopher J. Mitchell

Christopher J. Mitchell, 46, of Lake Worth, Florida died Monday, May 16, 2016 at home. He was born in Upper Montclair and had resided in Freehold Township before moving to Florida. He was a graduate of Freehold Township High School where he was a member of the soccer team. He was also a graduate of Stockton State College and a member of TKE Fraternity. Christopher was employed by Grass Roots in sales, marketing, and business development. He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, John and Lillian Mitchell and maternal grandparents John and Anna Zelinsky. Surviving are his parents, John and Eileen Zelinsky Mitchell; a son Andrei; a brother, Ian Mitchell, his wife Tracy, and their daughter Taylor; and a sister, Tara Mitchell. He was an amazing man, he was deep, kind, spiritual, and compassionate. Chris’ heart was forgiving, open and grateful. He knew how to have fun and loved adventure. Chris enjoyed the beach, skiing, hiking, biking, reading, music… LIFE. Chris’ smile and warmth were addictive; he had a gentle yet powerful presence. One hug or profound conversation with him can remove all of your fear, comfort you or inspire you to follow your dream. He will remain in many hearts forever, as a source of love, energy, and bright light. Visiting hours will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church, Freehold on Monday at 10:00 a.m. followed by interment at the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in Christopher’s memory to a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
