Obituary of Margaret A. Carney

Margaret A. Carney, 84, of Freehold passed away on Sunday, January 5, 2014 at CareOne at Jackson. Born in Freehold, she was a lifelong resident. Miss Carney was the Chief Probate Clerk for the Monmouth County Surrogate’s Office for 20 years, retiring in 1990. Prior to that, she was an office supervisor for the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, Freehold, for 20 years. She was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church, a member of the Altar Rosary Society, and Catholic Daughters of America St. Rose of Lima, Court No. 737, all of Freehold. She was predeceased by her parents, William J. and Jane M. Ottendorf Carney, her brother, James T. Carney, and her sister, Jane Carney. Surviving are her nephews, Billy Carney and his wife, Robin, Millstone Township; and Charlie Carney and his wife, Kim, Upper Freehold Township; and four great nephews. Relatives and friends may call at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold, on Sunday from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Monday at 10:00 A.M. at St. Rose of Lima Church.
