Obituary of Boaz Firkser

Boaz “Buzz” Firkser, 85, of Little Egg Harbor Township, passed away on February 6, 2014 at Southern Ocean Medical Center, Manahawkin. Born in Linden, he lived in Ridgewood and Charlottesville, Virginia for 17 years, moving to Little Egg Harbor five years ago. Mr. Firkser was a physical education teacher, coach, and athletic director for the Tenafly Board of Education, retiring in 1991. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War Two. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Tuckerton. Surviving are his wife, Eleanor Daly Firkser; two sons, William and his wife Patricia Firkser, Austin, Texas, and Michael Firkser, Edison; three daughters and sons-in-law, Penny and Thomas Shore, Cincinnati, Ohio, Carol and Glenn Diedolf, Tuxedo, New York, and Amy and Michael Gibson, San Diego, California; eight grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. at the First Presbyterian Church of Tuckerton, 210 East Main Street, Tuckerton, NJ 08087. In lieu of flowers memorial donations to the Humane Society of San Diego would be appreciated.
