Obituary of George Donald Apgar

George Donald Apgar, 85, of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania died Thursday, February 6, 2014 in Care One at Holmdel. He was born in Red Bank. Mr. Apgar was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. He was a graduate of Red Bank Regional High School and Rutgers University where he received the academic honor of Phi Beta Kappa. He was a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon Fraternity. He was a claims agent for Conrail before his retirement. Mr. Apgar was a member of the Monmouth Boat Club. He enjoyed sailing, ice boating and landscaping. Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Schroeder Apgar; a son and daughter-in-law, William and Jan Apgar; a daughter and son-in-law, Susan and David Moore; and his grandchildren, Christian and Ashley Moore and Lauren, Emily, and Elise Bates. A memorial gathering will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Monday, February 17 from noon to 1:00 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 1:00 p.m.
