Obituary of Daniel S. Csapo
Daniel S. Csapo, 74, of Freehold passed away on Friday, February 21, 2014 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township after a brief illness. Born in Markotabodoge, Hungary he studied at MTH 401 in Gyor, Hungary. He worked on rail cars and played soccer throughout Europe before fleeing Hungary in 1956 during the Hungarian Revolution. He and his family moved to Freehold in 1974
He arrived in New York and established himself as a landscaper before joining the United States Government, working as a letter carrier for 40 years before retiring in 2003.
He spent his retirement years enjoying his grandchildren and cruising the eastern seacoast. He was an incredible man, a loving husband, father, Pop Pop, and great grandfather who will live forever in our hearts. He gave us all inspiration to live each day to the fullest and to cherish those you love and to help each other unconditionally.
He was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima R.C. Church where he served as an usher for 30 years and a member of Freehold Council No. 1672, Knight of Columbus, both of Freehold.
He was predeceased by his mom and dad, Erzsebet and Sandor Csapo, a brother, Laszlo Csapo, all of Markotabodoge, Hungary, and a daughter, Susan Csapo, Hollywood, Florida.
He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years Kathleen Wojtonowski; his brother, Jeno Csapo and sister, Ilona Csapo, both of Markotabodge, Hungary; his son, Daniel Csapo, Jr., Hollywood, Florida; his daughters, Kimberly Taylor and husband Andrew, Collegeville, Pennsylvania and Sandra Bavaro and husband Paul, Freehold; his grandchildren, Jamie, Justin, Marc, Melisa and Matheu, Hollywood, Florida, Brooke, Jake and Becky Taylor, Collegeville, and Lucas and Logan Bavaro, Freehold; and ten great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Sunday from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. Knights of Columbus services will be held at 5:30 p.m. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church, Freehold on Monday at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Daniel’s name to Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation, 1317 King Street, Alexandria, VA 22314 www.curemeso.org or Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.
