Obituary of Leona LaMura Boyd

Leona LaMura Boyd, 85, of Morganville, passed away on Monday, March 31, 2014 at home. Born in Morganville, she lived in Freehold for 8 years prior to returning to Morganville in 1968. She was a communicant of St. Gabriel’s R.C. Church, Marlboro; and an Associate of the Sisters of the Good Shepherd, Wickatunk. In her youth, she was the star of the radio show “Baby Leona” which aired on WJBL, New York City, and “Me and My Dad” which aired on WLTH, Brooklyn. Her husband, Robert C. Boyd, died in 1994. Surviving are two sons, Robert F. Boyd, Morganville, and Stephen Boyd, Matawan. Relatives and friends may call at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold, on Thursday, April 3, 2014 from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. and 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. A Funeral Liturgy will be held on Friday at 10:30 A.M. at St. Gabriel’s Historic Church, Route 520, Marlboro Township. Interment will follow at the Brig. General William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Arneytown.
