Obituary of Mary Eileen Sportelli

Mary Eileen Sportelli, of Venice, Florida died peacefully at home in the company of her two sons on Friday, May 27, 2016 at home. She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y and had resided in Freehold before moving to Venice in 1982. She was filled with compassion for her family and others. Mary cared deeply about them and was always there to help. As a mother and homemaker, she was a role model to her extended family and an inspiration to all. She was predeceased by her husband, John Sportelli, in 2011. Surviving are two son, Joseph and Thomas Sportelli, both of Venice, Florida; a brother, Robert Reis, Tyler, Texas; three granddaughters, Jennifer, Lisa, and Nicole; and a step granddaughter, Jolene Huelsenbeck. The viewing will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Friday from 11:00 a.m. to noon. The interment will follow at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold.
