Obituary of Bernard P. D'Avella
Bernard P. D’Avella, 95, of Freehold Township died Monday, April 14, 2014 at The Manor, Freehold Township. He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. and had resided in Freehold Township since 1969.
He was a graduate of Franklin K. Lane High School, Brooklyn.
Mr. D’Avella served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.
He was an accountant for the Department of the Army, Fort Monmouth before his retirement in 1989.
He was a communicant of St. Mary’s R.C. Church, Colts Neck. Mr. D’Avella and his wife were members of the Compassionate Friends.
He was predeceased by his wife, Zaira D’Avella in 2009, and a son, Bernard Paul D’Avella in 1977.
Surviving are a son, Richard D’Avella; a daughter and son-in-law, Denise and Stephen McCauley; a brother and sister-in-law, John and Ann D’Avella; a granddaughter, Danielle McCauley; and many nieces and nephews.
The viewing will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church, Colts Neck on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. followed by interment at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold.
