Obituary of Mary Cammarata
Mary Cammarata, 86, Beverly Hills, Fla., formerly of Staten Island, N.Y., passed away after a brief illness Thursday, April 24, 2014, at Hospice House, Lecanto, Florida.
She was born on February 7, 1928, in Detroit Michigan to Francesco Grillo and Francesca Taormina.
After emigrating to Italy with her father in the early 1920's, she returned to the United States in 1956 with her children and husband, Giuseppe Cammarata. They lived in the Elm Park section of Staten Island.
Mary was a dressmaker and seamstress, a member of the ILGWU and worked for Roebil Sportswear in Port Richmond, Staten Island until her retirement.
In 2006 Mary and her husband moved to the warmth and sunshine of Beverly Hills, Florida.
She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Giuseppe; a sister, Leanarda Fedele; children, Antonio (Laura) Cammarata of Staten Island, N.Y., Vincenza (George) Breniak, of Beverly Hills, Francesco (Rita) Cammarata of Inverness, and Salvatore (Antoinette) Cammarata of Jacksonville; as well as eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and several step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Antoinette Cammarata.
The viewing will be held Wednesday April 30 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 pm at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center St. Freehold, NJ The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Thursday May 1st, at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Rose of Lima Church, 16 McClean St. Freehold, NJ 732-462-0859 Entombment will follow at Maplewood Cemetery Chapel and Mausoleum, 169 W. Main St. Freehold, NJ
