Obituary of Robert E. Rathschmidt

Robert E. Rathschmidt, 78, of Cream Ridge died Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at Deborah Heart and Lung Center, Browns Mills. He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y and had resided in Freehold before moving to Cream Ridge 11 years ago. He was a truck driver for Clayton Concrete, Freehold before his retirement in 1998. Mr. Rathschmidt was a member of Teamsters Local No. 469, Hazlet. He was a communicant of the Church of the Assumption, New Egypt. A son, T.J. Rathschmidt, died in 1972. Surviving are his wife, Diane Baillie Rathschmidt; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert E, Jr and Kathy Rathschmidt; a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ann and Joseph Flynn; two sisters, Barbara Tortora and Patricia Burdge; his grandchildren, Rob Rathschmidt, Kelly Horner and her husband Erin, J.P. Flynn and his wife Linda, Thomas Flynn and Sara Flynn; and four great grandchildren, Noah, Owen, Riley, and Logan. The viewing will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Sunday from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church, Freehold on Monday at 10:00 a.m. followed by interment at Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold. Memorial donations to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society would be appreciated.
