Obituary of Patrick V. Napolitano

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Dr. Patrick V. Napolitano, 62, of Annadale, an internist and gastroenterologist who was dedicated to his work, his family and his faith, died Saturday in Staten Island University Hospital, Prince's Bay. Born in Jamaica, Queens, he grew up in East Meadow, L.I., and graduated from East Meadow High School. He lived in many places while pursuing his medical degree and his postgraduate work, and moved to Bulls Head in 2000. He settled in Annadale in 2006. Dr. Napolitano earned his bachelor of science degree in psychology and pre-medical studies from the University of Miami, Coral Gables, Fla. He received medical degrees from the Autonomous University of Guadalajara, Mexico, and New York Medical College, Valhalla, N.Y. He completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at the former St. Vincent's Hospital, West Brighton, where he was granted a fellowship in gastroenterology. He had a private practice in gastroenterology in Eltingville and was an attending physician at Richmond University Medical Center, West Brighton, as well as having privileges at other hospitals. He had been the co-director of the department of gastroenterology at St. Vincent's, and a past president of the medical staff and the medical director at the former Bayley Seton Hospital, Clifton. Dr. Napolitano also was producer of the cable TV show, "Health Forum." In his leisure time he enjoyed dancing, winemaking, playing pool and poker, and motorcycles. He was fond of traveling, and Italy was a favorite destination. Dr. Napolitano was a devout Christian and a member of House on the Rock Christian Fellowship, Tottenville. Surviving are his son, Anthony; his daughters, Lisa and Jennifer Napolitano; his mother, Josephine Napolitano; two sisters, Roseann Quaranta and Lauri Hargman; and two grandchildren. There will be a graveside service Saturday, July 5, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in Holy Rood Cemetery, Westbury, L.I. The viewing will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Thursday, July 3 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.
