Obituary of Alex Marowitz
Alex Marowitz, 99, son of the late Kate and Frank Marowitz, of Monroe Township died Thursday, June 9, 2016 at home. He was born in New Brunswick and had resided in Freehold before moving to Monroe Township.
He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II serving from Feb. 13, 1942 to January 18, 1946 primarily in North Africa.
Mr. Marowitz co-founded with his brothers Frank’s Big and Tall Men’s Shop, one of the nation’s oldest big and tall men’s stores.
Alex was an avid golfer, a championship billiards player, and a savvy poker player. His generosity and love of family and friends was legendary.
He was a member of B’nai B’rith and the Jewish War Veterans Post of Clearbrook.
His wife, Renee Riemer Marowitz, died in 2007.
Surviving are 12 loving nephews and nieces and his companion Gala.
Funeral services will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Monday at 1:30 p.m.
