Obituary of David Thayer Burke

David Thayer Burke, 78, of Manalapan Township, passed away on Thursday, September 4, 2014. Born in Oceanside, NY, he grew up in Garden City, Long Island, graduated from Lehigh University, and moved to Manalapan over 40 years ago. He graduated from the Wharton Stonier Graduate School of Banking and retired from the Bank of New York in 1995 as an officer. He was a gentleman and wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend who will be dearly missed. Surviving are his wife, Ellen Marie Adams Burke; two sons, David M. Burke, Freehold, and Jonathan T. Burke, Aberdeen; a daughter, Gerri Burke Wright, her husband, David Wright, and a grandson, Harry Wright, Charlton, MA; a sister, Carolyn Wilson, Monroe; a brother-in-law, Michael Adams, his wife Bette Adams, St. James, NY; a sister-in-law, Diane Adams, West Babylon, NY; nieces, nephews, and their families: Dottie, Jimmy, Kathy, Ilona, Lilo, Lorraine, Meredith, Michael, Richard, Susan, and Terrence. He was preceded in death by his sister, Ellen Burke, Kew Gardens, NY. A memorial service will be held at 11AM on November 8th, 2014 at Trinity Episcopal Church, Ryers Lane, Matawan, NJ 07747. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory to Trinity Episcopal Church or the Monmouth County SPCA, 260 Wall Street, Eatontown, NJ 07724 would be appreciated.
