Obituary of Lorraine Frances Steele
Lorraine Frances Steele, of Yardville passed away peacefully on September 8, 2014 at St. Francis Medical Center, Trenton. Lorraine was born in Amityville, Long Island, New York to the late George and Gladys Steele. Lorraine was 79 years of age. She was educated in the Amityville School System and graduated in 1952.
She was employed at a plastic company in Amityville as a production manager for 28 years. She was also employed as a supervisor of janitorial services for the Freehold Borough Board of Education when she retired after 17 years of service.
She was a member of the Bethel A.M.E. Church, Freehold under the Pastorate of the late Rev. Malcolm Sheldon Steele. She was a member of the church’s Jazz Club and also enjoyed going on outings to Atlantic City. She loved her favorite baseball team-the N.Y. Yankees, of course.
Lorraine was predeceased by her parents, George and Gladys Steele, and a brother, Rev. Malcolm Steele.
She leaves to mourn her passing a sister-in-law, Nora Steele; close family friend Edith Mitchell and her children, Latasha Boyd, Andrew Brown and his wife, Danielle, and Ashley Ware and her twin boys; best friend Connie Zeman; family friend, Andrew Mitchell; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
The viewing will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Friday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. A committal prayer will be offered at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. followed by interment at Amityville Cemetery, Amityville. Memorial donations to the Bethel A.M.E. Church Golden Age Club would be appreciated.
