Obituary of Michael John Sheedy

Michael “Mike” John Sheedy, 70, beloved son, brother, uncle and friend, passed away peacefully at his home at Singer House, Lakewood on September 14, 2014. Mike was born in Jersey City where he graduated from the A. Harry Moore School. He moved with his family to Monmouth County and then through the Ladacin Network to Ocean County. He charmed everyone with his warm smile, sharp wit and his raised eyebrows. He loved his life and taught us how to smile in the face of adversity. We will miss him always. Mike was predeceased by his father, John J. Sheedy and many aunts and uncles. He is survived by his loving mother, Margaret M. Sheedy, his brother, Jack and sister-in-law, Judi; his sister, Kathy and his favorite brother-in-law, Pete; his goddaughter, Jessica and her husband, Cory and their children, Delaney and Georgia; his nephew, Justin, his wife, Brooke and their son, Jackson and his nephews, Steven and James. Mike is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins, including Stella and John Mc Monagle, Jean Norton, Patricia Buziak and Anne Sheedy. Mike was also blessed with great friends who he loved and who loved him back including his “half-sister”, Kerry Higgins and everyone at Singer House and the Lehmann Center, especially his “half-sister”, Ann Cicerello and his best friend, Felicia. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 17, 2014 from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at the Church of the Assumption, 28 Monmouth Road, Wrightstown, on Thursday, September 18, 2014 at 10 AM with internment to follow at the Brigadier Gen. William C. Doyle Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Mike’s name to the Singer House, Ladacin Network, 1260 Prospect Street, Lakewood, N.J. 08701.
