Obituary of Daniel J. Erven
Daniel J. “Uncle Dee Dee” Erven, 74, of Freehold died Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. He was born in Long Branch and had resided in Freehold for many years.
He had served in the U.S. Navy and was a graduate of Keane University.
Dan was a teacher at Peterstown School No. 3, Elizabeth where he was named Teacher of the Year.
He was a member of the New Jersey Education Association.
Following his retirement from teaching he was a manager for Wedgwood Gardens Care Center, Freehold Township.
He was predeceased by his parents, Leo and Hazel Storer, and a niece, Rebecca Storer.
Surviving are two brothers, Robert Erven and Ralph Storer, both of Sussex; a sister, Susan Schwenk, Eatontown; a special friend, Carlos Ordaz; his nieces and nephews, Karen Schwenk, Hazel Pantelas and her husband Jeff, Diana Cuccurullo and her husband Thomas, Candy Bamforth, Jeremy Storer, Clayton Daniel Erven, and Joseph Erven; and many great nieces and nephews.
The viewing will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Sunday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Monday at 11:30 a.m. followed by interment at Monmouth Memorial Park, Tinton Falls.
