Obituary of Anthony Bernard Richardson
Anthony Bernard Richardson, 45, of Las Vegas, Nevada died Sunday, October 5, 2014 at home. He was born in Neptune Township and was raised in Freehold.
He was a graduate of Freehold High School, Class of 1987, where he was quarterback for the varsity football team, and a member of the varsity basketball and baseball teams. He was named to All-District and All-Division Honors in baseball, and All-District, All-Division, All-County, All-Shore, and All-State honors in football. He was inducted into the Freehold High School Athletic Hall of Fame on May 27, 2010.
Following graduation from high school, he attended Temple University on a full athletic scholarship and played quarterback for the university football team.
He had an extremely successful career in pharmaceutical and medical sales. He worked for the top companies including Bristol Myers-Squibb, AstraZeneca and Cephalon and most recently was working for Genoptix. He won numerous awards throughout his career including the prestigious Pinnacle Award while at BMS.
Anthony most recently lived in Las Vegas for 8 years with his wife Suzanne and daughter Jasmine and they were often visited by his daughter Jade from Tucson. Anthony always considered Freehold Borough his true home and was fondly referred to as “Buggy” by his Freehold friends and family.
Anthony was always concerned about others and wanted people to feel at ease which is what made him a great husband, father, friend and sales person. His smile and his spirit brought joy to many.
Anthony loved spending time with his wife and daughters, traveling, debating politics, watching his Mets and Steelers, and listening to music. He loved The Beatles and Michael Jackson equally along with many others. He was a wonderful father and loving husband who did everything he could to support his family and take care of them.
He was predeceased by his father, George Peoples.
Surviving are his wife, Suzanne Richardson; his daughters, Jade Richardson and Jasimine Richardson.; his mother, Sara Ann Richardson; and his brothers and sisters, Brian Richardson, LaTonya Richardson, Zikiah Scott, Krista Peoples, Steven Peoples, Michael Peoples, Tymean Watkins, and Kamal Redd
Visiting will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold, NJ on Friday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. followed by interment at Old Tennent Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Nathan Adelson Hospice of Las Vegas or the Anthony “Buggy” Richardson Memorial Scholarship would be appreciated. Checks should be made out to the FRHSD Scholarship Fund and note the name of the scholarship in the memo line.
