Obituary of Jimmie A. Moore
Jimmie A. Moore, Sr., 79, of Marlboro Township passed away on Sunday, June 26, 2016 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Erwin, North Carolina, he lived in Dunn, and Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina.
After graduating from Roanoke Rapids High School in 1955, he joined the U.S. Air Force where he served for four years.
He moved to Highland Park and began working at Symphonic Electronics in New Brunswick where he met his future wife, Louise A. Perna. He later was a truck driver for Phillip’s Concrete, Somerset where he worked for 32 years, retiring 18 years ago.
He was a musician for his own band, “Jimmie Moore and the Blue Mountain Boys’ located in New Brunswick, and was known as the “Pioneer of Bluegrass Music in NJ”.
Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Louise A. Perna Moore; a son, Jimmie A. Moore, Jr. and his wife Donna Lynn, Marlboro Township; two daughters, Theresa Moore, Staunton, Virginia, and Jennifer Miranda and her husband, Matthew, Freehold; a brother and sister-in-law, Mack and Terry Moore, Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina; a sister and brother-in-law, Janet F. and Shurrell West, Sharpsburg, Georgia; and six grandchildren, Christopher, Jimmie, III, Brittany, Jacob, Jade and Gianna.
Visitation will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. and 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. Funeral services will be held at 8:30 P.M. Donations in his memory to the National Parkinson’s Foundation, 200 SE 1st Street, Suite 800, Miami, FL 33131 would be appreciated.
