MARIA LOURDES GARCIA
Devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, godmother, mother-in-law and amazing friend. A devoted catholic, exceptional cook, and talented Salsa dancer.
It is with a heavy heart that we announce that Maria (Lourdes) Garcia, 70, went to join the Lord on Monday, March 20, 2023, after a six-year fight with Alzheimer’s Dementia. Maria passed away in her home surrounded by her family and close friends.
Maria was a kind and thoughtful soul and will be missed and remembered by many lives she touched. Her family hopes she was Salsa dancing her way through the heavenly golden gates. Maria, you left this world too soon, but we are happy that you are home free and painless. We will always love and miss you until we can meet again.
Maria was born August 1952 in Puerto Rico. Married her devoted husband, Edwin Garcia 54 years ago and moved to Bronx and Brooklyn, NY. Later moved to Freehold, NJ where they raised their four children, Edwin Ernie Garcia (departed), Iris Fernandez-Garcia, Susu Garcia and Edward Garcia. Maria was also a loving grandmother to her nine grandchildren, Julio Madera Jr., Christian Garcia, Zuleyka Fernandez, Edward Garcia Jr., Ashley Fuentes, Elisa Fuentes, Eryka Fernandez, Sanaya Garcia, Joelle Garcia and great-granddaughter, Janessa Garcia. Dearly known as “Wella” to many including Judy Dang, Kiara Fuentes, and Mason Fuentes. She was indeed such a lovely lady who loved her family with all her heart.
Maria was a member and helper at St. Rose of Lima Church in Freehold. She worked at International Vitamin Corporation, CEI Perfume Company and Applewood Estates as well as a babysitter for many children of Freehold. She was an exceptional cook of Spanish food for all occasions and holidays whose food will be greatly missed.
