Obituary of Charlie Higgs

Charlie E. Higgs, 63, of Jackson died on February 27, 2023 at Monmouth Medical Center Hospital, Long Branch. He was born in Louisburg, North Carolina and resided in Jackson for the past 8 years. Mr. Higgs was a self employed construction and mason worker. Charlie’s greatest joy was spending time with “his boys” as he called them all, The Long Branch NJ Youth Football Team. He loved all of them dearly. He was predeceased by his parents James Brinkley and Agnes Higgs. Surviving are one daughter, Tamika Moss; two sons Ahmad Irby and Shalaby Bailey; one step daughter, Lavette Irby; two Aunts, Nettie Sample and Flossie Higgs: ex wife Shell Irby; his long time Companion, Rhonda Thorne; nine Grandchildren, Kadel Calhoun , Starasia Calhoun, Kaliiyah Calhoun, Shamar Williams, Sean Irby Gathers, Nylah Bailey, Nai’Mi Bailey, Zion Thompson and Princeton Bailey and a host of cousins. Charlie also has three bonus children, Courtney Newman, Patricia Thorne , Derek Harper; five bonus grandchildren, Ka’Join Thorne, Milan Edwards, Renee Harper, Derek Harper Jr. and Bryce Neuman. The viewing will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Friday from 11 to 12P.M. Funeral services will follow at 12 P.M. followed by interment at Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent.
