Obituary of Derek Peter Munnery

Derek Peter Munnery 1934 – 2023 On Wednesday, January 4, 2023 Derek Peter Munnery, a loving husband and father of two, passed away at the age of 88. Derek was born on May 6th 1934 in Croydon, Surrey England. He obtained his private pilot license at the age of 18 and always had a passion for flying. During the 1950’s he immigrated to Canada where he met his wife Dorothy. They both moved to the United States and became US citizens. While his career involved travel, he was always a devoted husband and father. Over the years he enjoyed a lifetime of hobbies restoring British automobiles, building furniture, creating artwork, and flying planes. But he always made time for family vacations and traditions. While he was known for being very meticulous and methodical, his brilliance showed in all he did. He is survived by his wife Dorothy, daughter Christine (Ken), son Stephen (Nancy), and three grandchildren, Kaylee, Brandon, and Justin. He was predeceased by his father Charles Edward Munnery and mother Katherine Mary née Brennan and his brother Dennis Munnery and wife Terry. A memorial service will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. Visiting will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold is in charge of arrangements.
