Obituary of Penny B. Shor

With sadness, love, and profound gratitude for her life, the family of Penny Shor, 76 of Freehold Township, NJ announces her passing on November 30, 2022, at her home. She was born March 21, 1946, in Mount Vernon, NY, moving to Englishtown, NJ with her family in 1952, she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Ethel Shor. She is predeceased by her late brother Benjamin Shor. Penny was a 1964 graduate of Freehold Regional High School and received her Associates Degree, from Brookdale Community College. She was the resident photographer at Freehold Raceway Track alongside her late partner Bernard Holderer for over 35 years, She was the greatest harness racing photographer, and won many awards for her work in Harness racing, she then went to work for her good friend Karen at J&K Interiors and later she transitioned to working at Dunkin’ Donuts and Sam’s Club in Freehold where she was a fan favorite with all of her customers and colleagues. Penny was a dedicated mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many with a heart bigger than her chest. She leaves behind her loving daughter Samantha B and her partner Michael, her loving and devoted grandchildren, Jacob and Jordyn and Jordyn’s fiancé Matthew, and her brother Michael and his partner Mary. She took the greatest pride in her grandchildren’s sporting events, never missing their football or softball games at Freehold Township High School. She loved her animals, including her four cats Smudge, Moe, Walter and Jessie as well as her dog Serena. She also loved her late horse Sammy and animals of all kinds and devoted much of her life to taking in rescue animals. Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 4, 2022 from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm at Higgins Memorial Home in Freehold, NJ. Funeral services will follow at the funeral home at 2: p.m. There will be a repast held at the Freehold Elks following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made in memory of Penny Shor to Freehold Township High School Athletics at 281 Elton Adelphia Rd, Freehold, NJ 07728.
