Scott Collins passed away after succumbing to cancer a year after being diagnosed. He will always be remembered for his dedication in mentoring dozens of field service engineers and always ensuring that issues were brought to closure with the appropriate resolution. During his 40 years with Philips Healthcare, he cultivated the qualities needed for the technical specialist role which had been specifically created for him early in his career. As anyone who knew him well could tell you, Scott had an innate ability to remember minute details about our products, automotive repair, home repair, finances, business practices, gardening, or a restaurant that you may have enjoyed a meal with him many years in the past.
This past April on his 40th anniversary with Philips, Scott sent me this message: “Indeed. 40 years ago a 21 year old walked into the Philips office in NJ not sure if he would make it a career with Philips. Look what happened! It was a great gig!”
Scott’s wife, Maria, allowed me to share that he will be buried with two pins; the American flag and a Philips anniversary pin matching the shield released in 1938. Scott was dedicated to Philips and took pride in supporting the wide portfolio of cardio/vascular imaging products. His wife and two sons are enduring the horrible loss of a man who had so much more to give, days before his 62nd birthday. His contributions to Philips and the healthcare community will never be forgotten.

On behalf of the entire Philips family, I would like to extend our condolences to Scott's wife Maria, his two sons, extended family and friends. Scott had an amazing career with Philips that lasted over 40 years. During his career he dedicated himself to supporting cardiac and vascular imaging equipment and, as a result, impacted the lives of thousands of patients and helped save countless lives. An amazing legacy. He left the world too soon, Rest In Peace Scott

Scott was a great friend and colleague. He will be missed by all who were lucky enough to know him well. So smart, able to help you with anything on any topic. Scott could also be very funny and while working long days together at any moment, he could just start singing riffs from some rock ‘n’ roll song. I will miss his phone calls not only on work related issues, even after I retired just because he was my friend. God bless him and the Collins family. Rest in peace Scott.
