Obituary of Edward E. Kress
Edward E. Kress, 81, of Freehold passed away at the New Jersey Veterans Memorial Home, Menlo Park on Monday, October 24, 2022. He was born in Pittsburgh and was a longtime Freehold resident.
He was a U.S. Army veteran.
After high school graduation, he was a Benedictine Monk for St. Vincent Archabbey, Latrobe, Pennsylvania for three years.
Ed was a respiratory therapist at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune Township where he was employed for 38 years before his retirement.
He was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church, Freehold where he was a member of the church choir. He served as a Eucharistic Minister at Jersey Shore University Medical Center.
He was member of the Freehold First Aid and Emergency Squad Auxiliary and a former member of the Borough of Freehold Shade Tree Commission.
Surviving are his wife, Joan Venti Kress; two daughters, Judith Czeto and husband Johnathan, and Mary Alsayer and husband Eric; three brothers, his twin brother, William Kress and Gerard and Robert Kress; and four grandchildren, Johnathan Czeto Jr., Samantha Czeto and William and Thomas Alsager.
The viewing will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church, Freehold on Saturday at 10 a.m. followed by interment at the parish cemetery. Memorial donations to Open Door of Freehold or Wounded Warriors Project would be appreciated.
