Obituary of Robert T. Quackenbush

Robert T. Quackenbush Age 77 – Millstone Twp, NJ Robert “Bob” Quackenbush passed away peacefully at home on Monday October 3, 2022, surrounded by his loving family and friends. Born in Long Branch, NJ, he was the son of Albert and Audrey Quackenbush. Bob grew up in Freehold and after graduating from Freehold H.S. in 1964 he enlisted in the US Coast Guard. During his six years of service as a Boatswain’s Mate he traveled the world, crossing the Artic Circle aboard the USCGC Westwind WAGB-281, surfing the waves in Australia and passing through the Panama Canal multiple times until finishing out his service stationed in Chincoteague, VA. When he returned home in 1971, he went to work as a 1st class lineman for JCP&L. Climbing for them inspired him to start his own Tree Service business which he continued throughout the rest of his life. Bob had many hobbies and passions along the way and fishing was top of the list. He was a charter boat captain for many years, and he loved entering big tournaments, such as, Tuna and Shark but Mid-Atlantic 500 was his favorite and he collected many trophies and cash prizes along the way. He was an avid biker and strictly a “Harley Guy” from day one. He was a member of various clubs through the years, participating in many charity rides and of course cruising to the Sturgis Rally. In his 40’s he also found a love of horses and became a real cowboy, competing in roping, team penning and bull riding…even winning a bull riding competition at Madison Square Garden. He was definitely an active sportsman, lest we forget all the years of deer hunting too. Bob is predeceased by his parents and younger brother Billy. He is survived by his wife Arlene Quackenbush from Millstone Twp, stepdaughters Kim Mitaritonna, Dana Letual and Erica Stupp, grandchildren Justin, Sarah, Michael, Gina, Natalie, Nicholas, Ryan, and Brooklynn. Visitation is being held at Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold, NJ on Monday October 10th from 4pm-7pm. Service held Tuesday October 11th at 10am at the funeral home, then burial at the Old Tennent Cemetery. Repast to follow at the Elks Lodge in Freehold. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a horse rescue of your choice.
