Obituary of Priscilla McRae

Priscilla McRae was born on March 3, 1974 to James F. McRae and Yvonne McRae in Neptune City, New Jersey. Priscilla was raised in Freehold, New Jersey and attended the Freehold Public School System graduating from Freehold Township High School in 1992. Priscilla was the fifth and last child born to the McRae’s, making Priscilla the baby of the family Priscilla McRae was well known and loved in Monmouth County. She attended Brookdale Community College, was employed at Allegiance Retail Services, and then as a secretary at Terminix. She enjoyed family and church gatherings alike. Priscilla had a great sense of humor. She, her brothers, and other church friends took any opportunity to “roast” or “crack” on people until tears of laughter popped out. Memories of hilarious church moments continued to be relived whenever they got together again. Priscilla McRae was a gifted musician playing the piano, drums, clarinet, keyboard, organ, saxophone, trombone, and flute. She worked along with other choirs and churches in the community to coach and accompany their music departments - New Beginnings AGAPE Christian Center (Second Baptist), and the music group Promise, with Rev. Willie Barron to name a few. Priscilla worked in the music ministry at Faith Tabernacle as a musician and choir director. She especially enjoyed working with the men’s choir, Sons of Faith. Priscilla McRae was a daughter of Faith Tabernacle whose grandparents were the founders of the church - the late Deacon Arthur Lee Goode and the late Rev. Sallie Goode. Priscilla accepted the Lord as her personal Savior early in life. She received the baptism of the Holy Ghost and later answered the call to ministry in the early 2000s, becoming a licensed minister at Faith Tabernacle UHCA under the leadership of her father, the late Elder James Franklin McRae. Minister Priscilla enjoyed delivering the word in a down to earth way that anyone could understand. Even during her battle with physical illness, she continued to witness and minister to those around her at the healthcare facility. Priscilla McRae’s most memorable messages were “Kill Those Giants” and “You’re in Good Hands with Sweet Jesus.” Priscilla McRae was a beloved family member who adored her nieces, nephew, and godchildren. She was a beloved sister, cousin, niece and a favorite Aunt warmly nicknamed “Aunt Pri”. “Pri” will be sorely missed by all her family. She was predeceased by her parents Elder James F. McRae and First Lady Yvonne McRae; brother James Jr. (June-Bug) and sister Sallie Ann; aunts Lula Brown and Naomi McRae; uncles Arthur Lee Goode, Sr. (godfather) and Nalton Goode, niece Shayna Turner McRae, godfather Melvin Fleming, Jr. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, “big bro”, Stephen McRae (LaTonya), brothers Timothy McRae and Kenneth Calhoun (Simika), nieces Skyla, Stephanie, Keris; nephew Darius; great nieces Rhea and Naomi; godchildren Starquana Council and Keith Bellamy, best friend Monee’ McGuire, godmothers Doris Goode and Denise Fleming, her Faith Tabernacle church family and a tremendous host of family and friends.
