Obituary of Helene J. Litwornia

Helene Julia (Bubnowski) Litwornia was born in Newark, NJ on May 27, 1922. She was next to youngest with nine siblings. Her parents emigrated from Poland with her father, Stanislaw Bubnowski, first arriving in 1905. Her mother, Julia (Czosnykowski) Bubnowski, arriving later. Helene graduated from Central High School, Newark, NJ approximately 1940. One day while walking down the street with a girlfriend she saw a young man hanging clothes on a rooftop and said she would marry that man one day. Indeed she did. She married John Litwornia on August 9, 1947. She gave birth to their first daughter, Carol Ann, a year later followed by a second daughter, Suzanne Julia, four years after. Helene worked at Prudential in Newark, NJ and later retired from Victory Engineering in Springfield, NJ. She enjoyed her family and friends. She and John traveled to the Caribbean several times and took bus tours to New England and Canada. Helene later was a full-time caregiver for her husband John who predeceased her in 2009. Soon after she became caregiver to her eldest daughter, Carol, who predeceased her in 2011. Helene is survived by her daughter Suzanne, numerous nieces, nephews and godchildren, as well as her sister-in-law Anna Peterson of Tyler, Texas. Visitation will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home on Wednesday, June 15, 2022 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:30 AM at St. Rose of Lima R.C. Church, Freehold. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover.
