Obituary of Jean Marie Dolan

Jean Marie Dolan, 55, passed away on May 4, 2022. She was born on November 14, 1966 in Brooklyn NY. Daughter of parents Mary Anne Gallagher (1947-2017) and James Francis Dolan (1941-1994). She was predeceased by daughter, Aaliaha Hagans. She is survived by daughters Kyra Dolan, Ashley Hagans, and Brittney Hagans, son Christopher Hagans, a brother, James Dolan and wife Brenda, and three sisters, Joanne Brennan and husband John, Patricia Brady and husband Chris, and Kathryn Jett. Jean was a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). She was a graduate of Tottenville High School and earned an associate degree from Lycoming College and her nursing certification from Williamsport Area Community College. She was very conscientious in serving her patients with dignity, respect and true compassion. She devoted most of her nursing career to advocating, and aiding for Dementia/Alzheimer’s. She was always constantly educating herself throughout her career to be able to continue the amazing care she gave her patients. Jean always said how everything changed for her when she had her children. Her family was her sole focus, and she worried over and took care of them until the end, sometimes to the exclusion of her own needs; never once putting herself first. She valued loyalty, honesty, and authenticity. She loved music; all of it. She loved to show her goofy side and dance whenever she found an opportunity. Her soul was radiant and touched so many lives. Jean had an amazing sense of humor and a beautiful laugh. Her wit was razor sharp. She made her whole family laugh with her outrageous stories, and all her silly sayings and doings. She was kind, overly generous and insanely compassionate. Even when she spoke in anger, she was often the first to apologize and to try to heal what was broken. She could never go to sleep angry. She instilled within her kids to ‘never go to bed angry at one another. You never know what could happen’. She loved her entire family, despite their quirks and disfunction. She worried about them, rooted for them, protected them, forgave them, and always kept on loving them. When Jeans nieces and nephews came along, it began a whole new chapter for her; survived by Taneshia, Marissa, Jalisa, Emily, Victoria, Kelly, Meghan, Finn, John, James, Nicholas, Rylee, Miles, Aubree, Carter, Emmett, Elias, Maliyah. The love she had for all of them was so apparent that words weren’t even needed for her to express it. Jean will be desperately missed by all those that she’s left behind. Our hearts are so broken by this loss. She was one of a kind and to be loved by her was to be truly blessed. The viewing will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Saturday from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church, Freehold on Monday at 10:30 a.m. Memorial donations to the Alzheimer's Association (www.alz.org) would be appreciated.
