Obituary of Willie Billingsley, Jr.

Willie Billingsley Jr. (77) April 27th 1944 - April 5th, 2022 A Great Father A Great Husband A Great Role Model A Great Grandfather A Great Friend A Great Man Willie Billingsley Jr. is the 3rd of eight children born to Evelyn and Willie Billingsley Willie was born in Gainesville, Florida on April 27, 1944, before moving to New Jersey at an early age. Willie Billingsley Jr. was preceded to glory by both his parents and siblings Flossie Wilson, Jerry Wilson, Regina Billingsley, and great grandson, Reashaun Billingsley Jr. Willie Billingsley attended Freehold High school before he began his 40 plus years career as a Professional Truck Driver. Willie was bestowed the title of Top Driver year in and year out at the company. In his free time he enjoyed working on cars, tinkering around and fixing electronics, watching a good cowboy movie, gardening, laughing and eating some BBQ surrounded by family. For the past 15 years during retirement he spent time enjoying every moment with his loved ones. In the years we got to spend with him, before and after retirement,we saw that Willie would give the shirt off of his back to a stranger and expected nothing in return. He treated all equally, He was wise, funny, had a story for every occasion, strong, creative and resourceful. He was a professional BBQ grill starter, ( HE WOULDN’T COOK THE FOOD), but he made sure that flame never went out. It only took him one time to light the grill. It burned long pass needing it, providing warmth as the sun dimmed, while we ate the food, he wouldn’t cook, even though he was a great cook. Go figure!.) If you came across Willie, you were a lucky person indeed. There isn't a soul that doesn’t end a Willie story without saying “Willie is a good man!” GOD truly broke the mold when they made Willie Billingsly Jr. and we were abundantly blessed and fortunate enough to call him Daddy. Willie Billingsley is loved and will be missed by many friends and family. To carry on his legacy of an excellent human being are his wonderful wife of 43 years, Alicia Billingsley, his children, Lynn Billingsley, Ellis Billingsley, Vatrina Billingsley, William Billingsley, Melvin Billingsley (Peter Prescott), Cleavon Gilman (Maribel Castaneda), Currie Billingsley-Madison (James Madison), Willie Billingsley lll ( Tiffany Billingsley), Lelynde Billingsley, David Billingsley, Christian Billingsley; his siblings… Frank Billingsley, Ben Billingsley, Annie Billingsley, Leo Billingsley, along with a host of grandchildren, and nieces and nephews that he treated like his own children. We will see you “when your ship comes in” Daddy. The viewing will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Thursday, April 14, 2022 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. followed by interment at Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent.
