Obituary of Gilbert G. Oldsey
Gilbert G. Oldsey, 82 of Freehold Township passed away on January 13, 2015 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania, he lived in East Brunswick prior to moving to Freehold Township 20 years ago.
Mr. Oldsey was a mason for P.J. Schweitzer, Spotswood, for 20 years, retiring in 1980.
He was a U. S. Navy veteran of the Korean War.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus No. 1672, and the American Legion Post No. 54, both of Freehold. An avid golfer, he also was a fan of the Philadelphia Eagles.
Surviving are his devoted wife of 58 years, Joan Munchberg Oldsey; two beloved daughters and sons-in-law, Jo Ann and Douglas Boyle, Cranford, and Patricia and Jeffrey Riker, Jackson Township; and loving “Pop-Pop” to his four grandsons, Matthew and Michael Boyle, and Zachary and James Riker. “Uncle Gibby” is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at the Jackson United Methodist Church, 68 Bennetts Mills Road, Jackson, NJ. Donations in his memory to Veteran Rescue A Warrior’s Sanctuary (http://veteranrescue.org/donations) would be appreciated. Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold is in charge of arrangements.
