Obituary of Joseph E. Chomko, Sr.

Joseph E. Chomko, Sr., 92, of Manalapan Township passed away on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge. He was born in Manalapan Township and was a lifelong resident. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Mr. Chomko, and his late brother Harry, owned and operated Chomko Brothers, a fuel oil company in Englishtown until his retirement in 1980. He also farmed on Taylors Mill Road for most of his life. He enjoyed trips to Atlantic City, watching his grandsons play ball, and was an avid New York Yankees fan. His wife, Joan Elizabeth “Betty” Chomko, died in 2019. Surviving are a son, Joseph E. Chomko, Jr.; a daughter, Marianne Szatkowski and husband Joseph; and two grandsons, Ryan Joseph and Tanner Joseph Szatkowski. The viewing will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 10 a.m. followed by entombment at St. Rose of Lima Mausoleum, Freehold.
