Obituary of Mary C. Lykes

Mary Catherine Lykes, 55 of Freehold passed away suddenly after a short illness on Monday, February 21, 2022 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. She was born in Neptune Township. Mary was employed as a bartender for many years and always loved dealing with her customers. She loved fishing, spending time gardening, doing word search puzzles, and spending time with her furry feline companion Red; and she loved watching old movies (Moby Dick and To Kill a Mockingbird were two of her favorites). She was predeceased by her parents, Thomas Ward Lykes and Antonietta Rita Lykes. Surviving are her brothers, Thomas Lykes, Freehold and Michael Lykes and his fiancé, Laura Pechar, Milltown; her significant other, George Lebers; many cousins, relatives, and many friends. Always known to brighten up any room she entered, she will be deeply missed by those who knew her and loved her. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to the American Lung Association or the American Stroke Association. Visitation will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home on Saturday, February 26, 2022 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM.
