Obituary of Gerard Martin Sercia

Gerard Martin Sercia, 65 of Manalapan Township passed away on Thursday, February 17, 2022 at home. Born in Staten Island, New York he lived there prior to moving to Manalapan Township nine years ago. Mr. Sercia was a security fire safety director for PBM,LLC. Manhattan, New York for 15 years, retiring in 2020. He was a communicant of St. Joseph R.C. Church, Millstone Township. He was a member of 32 BJ SEIU, Manhattan, New York. An avid fisherman and angler, he also was a member of the Staten Island Fishing Club; and the Union Hill Gun Club, Monroe Township. He and his brother Joseph had Jays Welding Business where they worked together as welders. He was also a supporter of CentraState Medical Center’s Hospital Auxiliary, Freehold Township. Surviving is his wife, Linda S. Avantagiato Sercia; a brother, Joseph Sercia, Staten Island, New York; two sisters, Deborah LaMana and Patty Ann Verdiglione and her husband Bobby, all of Staten Island, New York; a brother-in-law, Vincent Avantagiato, Oak Ridge; his nieces and nephews, Peter, Marianne, Danielle, Dana, Kyle and Nicholas; and two great nieces and two great nephews. Visitation will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 from 2:00 to 5:00 P.M. A funeral service will be held at 4:00 P.M.
