Obituary of Zackery Butts

Zackery C. Butts, Sr., 58, of Freehold died Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. He was born in Newark and was a lifelong resident of Freehold. He was a correctional officer for the New Jersey Department of Corrections, Jamesburg before his retirement. He was a graduate of Freehold High School, Class of 1975 and was active in youth programs as a Pop Warner Football coach and basketball coach. He was predeceased by an aunt, Margaret Peace. Surviving are his wife, Betty Myers Butts; his sons, Daniel Cancel, Arthur, Zackery, Jr., and Aaron; three brothers, Marlon, Wendell, and Brian; a sister, Dawn; 11 grandchildren; his grandmother, Irene Kyle; his mother-in-law, Dorothy Myers; an aunt, Shirley McCann; two Godchildren, Alicia and Alexus; many nieces and nephews; and a host of other family members. The viewing will be held at the Englishtown Community Refuge Church, 4 Sobecko Road, Manalapan Township on Tuesday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Funeral services will be held at the church at 11:00 a.m. followed by interment at Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent.
