Obituary of Vivaldo "Vee" Sciarappo
Vivaldo “Vee” Sciarappo, 84, died Sunday morning February 6, 2022, at home with his loving family alongside him. He was born July 12, 1937, in Freehold, the son of Donato Sciarappo and Mary Gallo.
Vee graduated from Freehold Borough High School, Class of 1955. Following graduation, he served in the U.S. Army Reserves before meeting his beloved wife Karen Ann Berry. They settled in Freehold and celebrated 57 years of marriage together in October. After their marriage he attended Rutgers College where he earned his bachelor’s degree. He was a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus in Freehold. He was a devout catholic and parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Church in Freehold, where he served as usher for over 50 years. He was a self-taught drummer of 70 years and was known as “the man with the beat”.
A family man, he loved nothing more than spending time with his children and grandchildren either at home or on vacation. He was predeceased by his sister, Lee and his brothers, Louie and Don. Surviving in addition to his wife, Karen Sciarappo, are his son, Troy Sciarappo, his daughter Gina Zarro and her husband Chris Zarro; four grandchildren, Nicholas Sciarappo, Gia Zarro, Dean Zarro and Eva Zarro.
A viewing will be held Friday evening 5pm-7pm at Higgins Memorial 20 Center St, Freehold, and again Saturday morning 10am-11am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Church in Freehold.
