Obituary of Ramona Altagracia Madera
On January 27, 2022, surrounded by her family and loved ones, passed and entered eternal rest Ramona Altagracia Madera at the age of 68. A beloved mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend to many. A strong-hearted, caring, loving woman who demonstrated tremendous courage and grace during her battle with multiple myeloma. Love and bravery, not cancer, defined her last months with her family.
Ramona was born on February 3, 1953, in the Dominican Republic to her parents, Juana and Francisco, and was the fourth child of eight. She dedicated her life to being a teacher before deciding to move to the United States with her children in 1995. She resided in Freehold, NJ, where she worked resiliently and became the matriarch of the family. She enjoyed making crafts and decorating, but as a talented cook, loved most spending time creating delicious meals for family and close friends.
Ramona was proud of her role as grandmother and spending time and taking part in the raising of her grandchildren was invaluable. Her home was her sanctuary and she always made everyone who visited feel welcome. She touched the lives of so many, was funny, kind, and there was no one better to talk to when days were tough.
She is survived by her mother Juana, her three children Jorge, Luz, and Divina, two sisters and four brothers, her five adored grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends. We will forever miss this fierce, strong willed, loving, beautiful woman who fought on with courage and faith until her last days. She will live on in our hearts, minds, and memories forever.
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28
