Obituary of John A. LaForge, Jr.

John A. LaForge Jr, 74 of Freehold passed away on January 14, 2022 at Centrastate Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born to John A. LaForge and Charlotte Hammerstone in Freehold, where he was a lifelong resident. He was a 1966 graduate of Freehold Borough High School. Mr. LaForge was US Navy Vietnam veteran. He was also a lifelong member and volunteer of the Freehold First Aid and Emergency Squad. John was a member of the Freehold Elks Lodge No. 1454. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and a lifelong member of Fur, Fin, and Feather Sportsman's Club. John worked as a welder for CW Grimmer and Sons throughout his life. He was a devoted father to his six children; five daughters, Denise Wolcott, NC, Dawn Lohman, Freehold, Cynthia Barkalow and her husband, Clif, Howell, Tina Whitfield and her husband, James, Jackson Township, and Tammy Sowers, and her husband, Wesley, NC; and one son, John LaForge III, and his wife, Lisa, Howell. Loving grandfather to 12 grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. Adored brother to Barbara and her husband, Bud Parenteau, Lee Crate, and William LaForge, and his wife, Barbara. There will be a celebration of life at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Saturday, April 30, 2022 from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. He is loved and will be missed dearly. Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold is in charge of arrangements.
