Obituary of Alfred Earl Sanders III

Alfred Earl Sanders III passed away on Tuesday, January 4, 2022. Freddy was born on July 31, 1958 in Freehold NJ to Fred and Terry Sanders. He was a lifelong resident of Monmouth County with a few sojourns out west. Freddy was always larger than life and a unique character. He was a devoted husband to the love of his life, Rose, father to a daughter, grandfather of three and brother of three. Freddy loved music, not only listening but also creating his own, playing brass, strings, keys and harmonica. He also loved motorcycles, camping, cookouts and attending regular meetings as a friend of Bill W. Freddy graduated from Freehold Regional Borough High School and obtained certificates from Brookdale Community College and Monmouth University. Freddy held a diverse variety of jobs and was very community minded. He was a longtime volunteer at the Freehold Self Help Center in addition to many other Monmouth County outreach organizations. Freddy never let a life challenge slow him down. He fought back from a number of critical illnesses and successfully returned to living at home. He loved parties and was famous for hosting backyard cookouts in his seer-sucker suit. You could often see him cruising down Ocean Avenue in Long Branch on his beloved Harley with a huge smile and a cigar. Freddy was great to talk with as the conversations could include music, religion, politics, philosophy, science, and the bizarreness of life to name just a few topics. And often included all of them. Freddy loved and was dearly loved by many. He will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to St Luke's United Methodist Pantry in Long Branch or any other Monmouth County outreach programs. Due to Covid concerns, a private service will be held followed by a gravesite service and burial at Old Tennent Cemetery, 454 Tennent Rd Tennent, NJ 07763. A memorial celebration of Freddy’s life will be held at a later point.
