Obituary of Vera Hoden

Vera Hoden, 90, of Whiting passed away on Sunday, January 18, 2015 at home. Mrs. Hoden was born in Freehold Township where she resided until moving to Crestwood Village in Whiting. She was a telephone operator and receptionist for New Lisbon State School before her retirement. She was also employed as an operator for the New Jersey Bell Telephone Company and as a retail salesperson. Mrs. Hoden was a member of the First Baptist Church, Freehold. She was predeceased by her husband, Rev. Joseph Hoden, in 2005. Surviving are two sons, Kenneth Joseph Hoden and his wife Lisa and Roger Luke Hoden and his wife Virginia; a brother, John Lukenoff; five grandchildren, Lisa Ann Dreher, Patricia Marie Allen, Lisa Treteuant, Stephanie Basso and Samantha Helka; and three great grandchildren, James Curtis Allen, Jake Joseph Dreher, and Roger William Dreher. The viewing will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Friday from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 11:30 a.m. followed by interment at Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold.
