Obituary of Shi Hua Zhong
Shi Hua Zhong, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, passed away peacefully in his home on September 11, 2021.
Shi Hua Zhong, 钟世华, was born in Kunming City, China and lived until 89 years old. He considered Chengdu, China his home and raised three children, Ming Xiu Zhong, Mingli Zhong, and Je Zhong with his wife, Shuyao Yu, of 58 years. In 1998, after retirement, Shi Hua moved to America with his wife to help raise his granddaughters. He naturalized as an American citizen in 2011.
Shi Hua Zhong carried himself with a quiet dignity. He was born to a prominent family that fell on hard times. After his father’s passing, Shi Hua dropped out of middle school to support his mother and two sisters by working as a tailor’s apprentice. Even though Shi Hua would often go tired and hungry, he never complained. He hid that he walked barefoot everyday and only wore the new shoes gifted by his mother before coming home. Influenced by his father’s opium addiction, Shi Hua never smoked, drank, or gambled which was uncommon for his peers. Shi Hua Zhong was blessed with a superman-like jawline, loved to play basketball, eat carbs and sugar cane. He was a man of few words but those who knew him spoke of him with pride and admiration.
Shi Hua Zhong is predeceased by Peibai Zhong (father), Furui Yan (mother), and Shuyao Yu (wife) and is survived by his sisters, Shilan Zhong and Shifan Zhong, aforementioned children, grandchildren, Xiao Weldon (nee Huang), Meng Yang Zhang, Janice Lan Huang, Xiang Zhong, and great-grandchildren, Ran Wang and August Huangkai Weldon.
A virtual service will be held by the family at 9:00 a.m. followed by a burial in Elmwood Cemetery at 425 Georges Road, North Brunswick, NJ 08902 on September 17.
