Obituary of George E. Halo, Sr.
George E. Halo, Sr. 89, of Freehold Township died September 7, 2021 at Wedgwood Gardens Care Center, Freehold Township. He was born in Newark, NJ, and resided in Manalapan most his life before recently moving to Freehold Township.
He was predeceased by his wife Patricia Halo in 2017 after 60 years of marriage.
He owned and operated George E. Halo & Sons Excavating for over 50 years.
Mr. Halo was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church, Freehold where he proudly served as an usher for over 30 years. He was a member of Freehold Council No. 1672, Knights of Columbus and Msgr. Kivelitz General Assembly, Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus.
He was a founding member in 1971 and also served as Fire Chief at the Manalapan Township Fire Company No.1, Millhurst in 1978.
Surviving are two sons, George E. Halo, Jr. and his wife Diane, of Lacey Township, and Timothy J. Halo and his wife Janet, of Freehold Township, four grandchildren, Lauren, Cora, Emily, and Joseph Halo, and one step-granddaughter Theresa Berlinski.
The viewing will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Friday September 10 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church on Saturday September 11 at 10:00 a.m. followed by interment at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations made to St. Rose of Lima Church, 16 McLean Street, Freehold, NJ 07728, in his memory would be appreciated.
