Obituary of Patrick E Coyne

Patrick E. Coyne, 69, of Freehold Township passed away on Saturday, July 17, 2021. He was born in Neptune Township and a lifelong Freehold resident. He was a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, Manalapan Township for 37 years before his retirement in 2017. He was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church, Freehold and a former member of Freehold Council No. 1672, Knights of Columbus. Pat was a 26-year member of Engine and Hose Company No. 1 of the Freehold Fire Department where he served as company captain. He was a member of the Freehold Firemen’s Exempt Association. He was vice president of the Freehold Area Running Club where he was recipient of the Volunteer of the Year. He was treasurer of the St. Rose of Lima Sports Board and a cross country and track and field coach. Pat enjoyed fishing, a voracious reader and an avid New York Giants and New York Yankees fan. His great joy was watching his son and daughter compete in track and field and cross county events. Surviving are his wife, Patricia Conway Coyne; a son, Dr. Sean Coyne and his husband Bryan Payne; a daughter, Erin Stelma and her husband Chris; and an aunt and uncle, Kathleen and Jack Corcoran. Visiting hours will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church, Freehold on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. Freehold Fire Department services will be held on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Freehold Fire Department Memorial Fund, 49 West Main Street, Freehold, NJ 07728 would be appreciated.
