Obituary of Nelson Hughes Kissam

Nelson H. Kissam Loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Nelson Hughes Kissam passed from this life to eternal rest on Tuesday, June 29, 2021. Born in Jacksonville, Florida on December 14, 1927, he resided in Jackson, New Jersey. He was the son of Edward K. and Gladys (Staats) Kissam. Nelson retired from the U.S. Postal Service as an electrical maintenance supervisor in 1991. He served his country proudly in the U. S. Army during World War II and the Korean War. Nelson was predeceased by his beloved wife, Joyce Bridget (O’Neill) Kissam (2014); sons, Nelson H. Kissam, Jr. and Kevin B. Kissam; son in law, James W. Murphy; brother, Edward K. Kissam, Jr.; sister, Betty (Kissam) MacQueen; and brother in law, Matthew O’Neill. He is survived by his devoted children, Linda Murphy, Valerie Pantina and her husband, Robert and Janet Jordan and her husband, Steve; daughter in law, Gina Kissam; ten grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and brothers in law; Don MacQueen and George Bucklin. Visitors will be received at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Friday, July 2, 2021 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church, Freehold, N.J. at 9:30 am Saturday, July 3, 2021. At a later date the cremated remains will be interred at Lake Nelson Memorial Park, Piscataway, N.J.
