Obituary of Mae Gorman
Mae Gorman of West Orange, NJ, previously a longtime resident of Maplewood, passed away peacefully on April 29th at the age of 95.
Mae was born in Newark, NJ to Charles and Sarah Pollack and graduated from Weequahic High School. She attended Montclair Teacher’s College for two years but was asked to leave college to become the book keeper at her father’s maintenance business. She completed her education at Kean College twenty years later and dedicated her career to teaching first for the Newark Board of Education and then for the South Orange-Maplewood Board of Education retiring from South Orange Middle School.
Mae was predeceased by her beloved husband of 60 years, Raymond. She is survived by her daughters Linda Goren and her husband Larry and Susan Rynar and her husband James. In addition, she is survived by her four beloved grandchildren and four great grandchildren upon whom she lavished her love and attention.
Mae was a beautiful, vivacious woman who could light up a room by walking into it. She will be terribly missed by her devoted family and friends.
Services for Mae will be private. Arrangements will be handled by the Higgins Memorial Home of Freehold. Mae requested that donations be made to St Jude’s Hospital, her favorite charity.
