Obituary of Jean Corsaro Schellenger
Jean Corsaro Schellenger, 78, of Howell Township died Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at home. Her early years were spent in Bloomfield and she was raised in Monroe Township but had lived in Freehold for over 50 years. She moved to Howell in late 2020 with her family.
Jean was a graduate of Hightstown High School and received her Bachelor’s Degree at Montclair State University.
She was a history teacher for over 30 years and taught home instruction and night school within the Freehold Regional High School district for most of her career. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Freehold and spent many active years of service within the Battleground District of the Boy Scouts of America.
She is predeceased by her parents, Frank and Emma Corsaro; and her husband, John “Jack” Schellenger, Jr.
Surviving are her son, John Schellenger, III, Freehold; a daughter, Dawn Cirilo and son-in-law, John Cirilo, III, Howell Township; two sisters-in-law, Donna Mayer, Wall Township and Elna Daidone and her husband John Daidone, Fairless Hills, PA and many nieces and nephews.
The viewing will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Friday from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to gather on Saturday at 8:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Graveside services will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Cold Spring Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Cold Spring.
