Obituary of Shirley D. Kniesler

Shirley D. Kniesler, 78, passed away on Monday, March 8, 2021 in Cedar Grove, NJ. A lifelong resident of Freehold Township, she was a school bus driver for the Freehold Township Board of Education before her retirement. She was predeceased by her husband of 45 years, Richard W. Kniesler (2008), and a daughter, Karen (2019). Surviving are two sons, Richard W. Kniesler and Erick W. Kniesler, and two daughters, Sharon L. Kniesler-McFearin and Nancy L. Kniesler. She also had three grandchildren, Travis, Tyler and Chase, and two great-grandchildren, Austin and Adrian. Shirley had an effortlessness in the way she spoke with people; her immediate care and interest easily came through. With a twinkle in her eye, she loved a good joke and often laughed before the punchline. She treasured her peony bushes and shared her flowers with family and friends, brightening many a day. Her smile, warmth and caring nature made her an irreplaceable gem, and she will forever be in our hearts. Private services will be held under the direction of Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold.
