I was only 9 years old and new to Freehold Township and Wynnfield but when the spring time came and baseball was going to be played it was fun times for all of us guys! I met Gene through the neighborhood and caught rides to the little league games with him and his father who happened to be our coach of the Bears. We went to different schools but met back up in high school playing baseball again. I am also from Queens and grew up in Freehold Township and enjoyed knowing Gene and his spark plug attitude and friendliness.I joined the Navy and made a career out of it and always came back to the hometown and my parents house to see who may still be around. I feel sad that my friend suffered as much and am glad he found happiness in his life. I, along with my fellow classmates wish we all could have spent more time with him after our school days. We will all miss him and wish the best for his family. I am glad that i shared some good times with him and may God bless his whole family now.

Mrs. Kanzler, Billy, Barbara, Kim ,Michael and Jean, I am so sorry to hear about Genes passing, you all have my deepest sympathy, I will cherish my childhood memories with Gene, we had alot of fun growing up in Wynnefield, our group of friends were the best EVER !! So sorry to learn of Gene's passing. Although we regrettably lost touch with each other through the years, Gene was a good man and great fun to be with. We spent many a night in our younger years shooting pool and talking life down on Main Street. And we had quite a memorable trip together to see my brother graduate from boot camp in Parris Island! May he rest in peace and my thoughts and prayers to his friends and family.
